Welcome to Little Stars - Luxor
Children's Trust Fund
|
Egypt
is a land of ancient superstars. Hatshepsut,
Tutankhamun, Ramses the Great, Nefertiti and
Cleopatra were living Gods worshipped by all
for their power and their strength. Their cartouches
are etched eternally in stone and their names
slip off the tongue like honey from the carved
bees that adorn every column in Egypts
greatest temples. Egypts past intrigues
and fires the imagination but that was three thousand
years ago. So, what is happening now? Visitors
still flock to the temples but do they see beyond
them? Do they see the Little Stars that bid
to shine through the heap of bad cards that
life has dealt them? |
How
do Luxors orphans and abandoned children get by? How do families
survive on what can be as low as £5 or £6 per month when world
prices are spiralling upward? How do those children with disabilities
manage in a hostile environment that is 95% desert and stricken with poverty?
The answer to all those questions is simple. Without your help they will
not manage at all. There is no danger of a child falling through the welfare
net, because there is no welfare net to catch any of them.
With your support, Little Stars will assist abandoned,
orphaned, disabled and disadvantaged children
in Luxor regardless of their gender or their
religion. A
winged Isis was chosen as the Little Stars mascot
because by legend she is the protector of children.
If asked to protect children she will hold them in
her arms and enfold them in her wings of love and
peace. The aim of Little Stars is to protect all children
in that way.

Have a look through our website and consider making a donation to the fund or to sponsor an Egyptian family. The aims of
the Trust are wide and Trust Funds are not bottomless pits. They need
constant replenishing if they are to work. They need your support and
that makes you important in the lives of children that you have never
met but who are dependent on you. Show them that you care and that they
are not forgotten by everyone.
So far (June 2007 - June 2009) you have donated £104,478 towards the completion of Little Stars' projects which has enabled us to start a new clinic at Qurna on the west bank of River Nile and to carry out an extensive food distribution programme where more than 1,500 food parcels were distributed during the year. We now need your help more than ever to ensure the future of the clinic and extend its services, to create the new free Hadana (Nursery School) for disadvantaged and disabled children which is opening in the Autumn next to the clinic, to buy the mini-buses or trucks that we desperately need to get around the villages and to increase our distribution of food parcels. Please have a look at our newsletter to see photographs of the progress we have made in all fields. It is your help that made all this possible.
